Childless Tractors Program
This excellent program is provided to school children to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the dangers of living and working within a farm environment. The program currently reaches 200 primary school children on a yearly basis. An essential element of the program is the 'Farm Safety Risk Assessment Walk.
The children participate in an actual farm walk, utilising the expertise of the Farm Principal and a Worksafe Farm Safety Consultant. During the program, the children complete a farm safety workbook in order to vie for the wonderful prize of a Model Tractor, generously donated by John Deere Farm Machinery.
Ms Dulcie Long, Community Health Nurse for the Leigh Community Health Centre, presents this innovative program throughout the areas serviced by Hesse Rural Health Service.
